
The historical activity of our Group
From MERLIN Group’s starting point in 1922 until today, water & wastewater treatment facility designs became more and more complex, with more and more constraints:
- • Less available land : more and more compact treatment facilities
- • Less tolerance to any nuisance (noise, odours): covered treatment works
- • Variable treatment capacity : touristic areas/li>
- • Higher treatment quality (C, N, P, bacteria, etc…) or scarce resources : use of new treatment technologies (nano- and ultra-filtration, sea water desalination, biofilters, etc…
- • Renovation of existing plants : use of new treatment technologies to optimise the use of existing works (membranes, moving bed reactors, etc…)
- • Sustainable development: reuse of biogas, reduction of sludge production, solar drying, treatment with aquatic weeds, etc…
Eventually, all these technologies, from the most simple to the most sophisticated ones, have found their own application in other countries were Cabinet MERLIN has been working, notably in Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal,…
